We gotta see it

"S" doesn't know the extent of my negative feelings toward Lodeve. And sometimes I feel better about Lodeve than others.

And not wanting to pass an opportunity by, I think it's fair to go have another look. So this afternoon I sent the following to "S":

"S",

This is Alyosha, the sensible one.

We've been trying all day to convince ourselves, to talk ourselves into wanting Graham's house, because of course we more than anyone want to finally have a house. But it's a hard sell, for all the reasons that we said no to the place the first time. Since then, nothing fundamental has really changed except the price, and that not so much itself. So we're skeptical that we're ever going to change our minds about the house.

However and despite that skepticism, you have at least piqued our curiosity again. And we wouldn't mind seeing the place once more if it's convenient for you. I don't want to get your hopes up, and I very certainly don't want to get Graham's hopes up. That would be mean and if that would be the case I'd rather not even express interest. As I said, it's a longshot. But if it's cool, we're up for a second viewing.

Also any further interest would depend on several factors beyond our control as well. We'd need hard information on exactly how and how much we could expand the house, likewise the remise; and we'd want a realistic picture of what is planned for construction right in the house's view across the river.

Of course we'd never buy a house we don't really want. But if the conditions are right, we'd happily consider that property again. We would, after all, like to live somewhere eventually.

Is tomorrow morning good for you?

Sensibly yours,

Alyosha.

So tomorrow morning at 10:30 it is. We'll see what we find.
